Another intriguing part of this team in 2016 looks to be our D-line.
My lips are salivating at thinking of the dominance we could have along that line in 2016... and honestly, a 3-4 defense looks like something we absolutely FINALLY have the personnel for, and we could be REALLY deep:
DE - Charles Walker (Jr), Matt Dimon (Sr)
DT - Marquis Overton (So), Neville Gallimore (Fr), Matt Romar (Jr), Jordan Wade (Sr), Du'Vonta Lampkin (Fr)
DE - DJ Ward (Jr), Austin Roberts (Sr)
Wow.
That's without even mentioning some of the younger guys - Kenneth Mann (DE), Gabriel Campbell (DE), Dwayne Orso (DE/DT, but might even get moved to the OL), Courtney Garnett (DT), Isaac Ijalana (DE)
The DE's would still be a slight question mark, but you gotta like where you're at with the size and explosiveness with a lot of guys on that list. Walker should be an absolutely DOMINANT strongside DE in a 3-4 defense, as we've seen often this year. Matt Dimon is no slouch either, and then DJ Ward and Roberts should be able to lock down the weakside.
And we've got plenty of flexibility to switch to a 4 man front with guys like Walker and Dimon both being able to play inside or out.
Potential-wise, I'm not sure we've had this dominant of a D-line in a really long time under Stoops. The DT position has to have most Sooner fans really excited... we look absolutely loaded there. Not quite as awesome as seeing Gerald McCoy and Demarcus Granger trot out there, but still... looks incredible on paper.
