So Back in 1999 I was a volunteer in a really large Student ministry at Fellowship Church in Dallas.
I was pretty well connected, so I was a part of an event planning team and we helped coordinate speakers, entertainment, etc etc for large outreach events for teenagers. One such event we had almost 2000 middle schoolers attend from multiple churches and Prime was
the guest speaker.
He's introduced and takes the stage to a raucous ovation. In fact, the kids were so rowdy, Deion had to shush them and as he did, he kinda played to the crowd and started to whisper...
"Imagine....Imagine..." he said, as the crowd finally settled.
"Imagine having everything you could ever want, " he said, as he now had their full attention.
"Imagine cash everywhere. Drugs everywhere..."
"Imagine naked women everywhere. Imagine snorting cocaine off their beautiful bodies."
"Just imagine."
I remember looking around that room and seeing teenage boys practically drooling!! It was all I could do to not crack up. I had a youth pastor of a prominent church come up to me and say, "I don't really want these 13 year olds imagining lines of cocaine on naked women's bodies!"
Aside from his lack of better judgement in his opening comments, Deion really did settle in and bring a solid, inspiring talk to the group.
But holy cow, a minute in, we were all thinking we made a BAD BAD choice.
