I absolutely love this flick. However, the basic premise of the movie is bugging me.
Why would Col. Jessep be so adamant about Santiago not getting a transfer? Makes no sense. Dude obviously did not have the stuff to be a Marine at Gitmo. Would seem to me Jessup would have jumped at the chance to get rid of his ass. Why would you want a guy hanging around who did not have what it took? Makes no sense.

I always looked at it as Jessup, the consumate hard ass, wanted to teach Santiago a lesson. And, he did not want him getting outta Gitmo and ratting on good Marines about a fence line shooting. So he authorized and old school code red and the administered lesson killed the poor hapless lad...

Why, on a College Football Recruiting Site Message Board, are we debating movies? Not even sports movies. At least debate whether u like Adam Sandler’s The Longest Yard or Burt Reynolds version 😂😂😂
