5 star rb for 2022 verbally commits

OU has five 2022 commitments:

3 WR's.
1 RB
1 LB
2 from Texas, 1 from Oklahoma, 1 from California, 1 from Illinois
WR Burton is a 5-star, the rest are 4 stars.
And FWIW, at such an early date, OU's 2022 class is 5th ranked....which to me is meaningless. I've seen too many 11th hour de-commitments.

The tide may be turning a little bit. 2-5 stars out of the first five is pretty strong. I think it’s crucial for us this year to get in the playoffs again plus actually win a game in the playoffs.

As soon as Saban sees his film...well, you know how this one ends. 8^(

We have to hope the law of averages works for OU on this one....but it seems that what Alabama wants, it gets.
I'm pretty goddam sick and tired of bama's recruiting classes. What's Saban's sell? Saban's spiel? What is it?

He sells his GOAT resume. Seven NCs (the same as OU's historical total) at two different schools pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Gotta do better than that brother. This I already know. Bring somethin better. Don't tell me we're riding their coats.

Until OU starts winning postseason playoff games instead of getting mauled or blowing big leads (as it did with Georgia), OU....like most other teams....will continue to ride on Alabama’s coat tails.
Hate Alabama all you want, but Saban’s program is the top dog in CFB, with potentially more great teams looming. That cannot be debated.

And some claim Saban's way of recruiting is questionable. The success of Alabama speaks for itself in recruiting nationwide.
I'm thinking we put the new RB verbal commitment in Saban Protection Program (e.g. witness protection) 😁

I lost ya. It's all good.

OK, I give up. What did I miss...that our resume/credentials/prospects (current and historical) has to be better than what Saban has done at Bama? Not sure how we can do that anytime soon. Please enlighten me 8^)

McDonald’s bags with double stack seems to be all the rage in SEC. It is no wonder they are always high up in the recruiting ranks. They do not seem to have no shame or conscience doing it.

That's exactly what I was gettin at. Recruits used to bang the doors down to get into Norman. Since Saban's arrival in Tuscaloosa, bama's stackin bluechips 3-4 deep on both sides of the ball. Kids willing to sit a year or two regardless of early playing time when they could've gone elsewhere and started from day 1. Imo, and with Grinch's obvious knowledge and improvement on the defensive side of the ball the last two seasons, OUr program has to implement an URGENCY on signing the top defensive recruits in the country. Sure we make the CFB playoffs, but without a functional defense, are embarrassed nationwide. Laughingstock. Defense has be prioritized right now and I have all the confidence in Grinch. Saban's got it going alright. We need to get there. The old cliche "defense wins championships?" Bama's championships feature the most dominant defenses ever seen in cfb. In my all humble opinion. What does Saban do that OUr program won 't do? 😁

I'll also emphatically imply that, from i've witnessed as the rest of you. Riley and Castioglone seem to think you can bring home the crystal ball without a defense. There, there it is.

LTW, I get it, to a certain extent OU fans have PTSD from past defensive performances and teams. But I don't know what more they can do at this point? They have hired The Grinch who has improved the defense every year, and appears to be getting better with athletes more in tune with his style. I believe the recruits, on the defensive side of the ball, have improved as well. I believe they have recognized the gap and are addressing it. I dare say without this years defense they don't win the Big 12 Championship and/or the bowl game.

He fired Stoops brother after a dismal performance against Texas mid-season. I believe LR is in it to win it while paying attention to the defensive side of the ball. Did he make right call(s). Yet to be determined.

Crap son, how long does "yet to be determined" have to happen?" Have you spent a second thinkin about that? You're a girl ain't you?

No ain't a girl although I am not sure how that matters? So you are done with Grinch and his recruits? You think LR is not trying to get better on D?

Whether Saban has or hasn't a 3-4 deep depth chart, he certainly has an overflow of premier talent, with an enormous area to recruit from....like the area that formed the 11 states of the Confederacy plus the ability to go coast to coast (including Hawaii).
I don't believe Alabama's stranglehold on college football will end until Saban retires.

Riley doesn't give a shit about defense, it's obvious. Grinch is forcing it.
Riley fired Mike Stoops and hired Grinch and the improvement on defense is slowly coming around.....something I figured would take at least 3 years when Grinch arrived.
Riley knows his teams won't win championships without a good defense. He's doing something about it right now. He clearly gives a shit about defense.

Good point. And as a result, OU better focus on defense while Grinch is still in Norman because if he can turn around the Sooner’s dismal defensive history over the past several years, he ain’t going to be here long.

Grinch was a great hire. It's too bad that if his defense takes one more step forward, he himself will be recruited by some of the major programs to leave OU. Hope he stays.

9 of OU's 16 recruits are defensive players...and Billy Bowman who is a possible DB/WR/KR....then there is DB Key Lawrence (transfer).
That's at least 10 and possibly 11 defensive players incoming and all look like good prospects. Right now, I can see at least 6 playing immediately. Grinch's work is progressing but there's still a ways to go.....and Perkins and Tre Brown leaving can't help.

The best comparison I can think of (in my lifetime, anyway) is that Saban is this century's football version of John Wooden. Between 1965 and 1975, UCLA's second string could've competed with anybody but the Bruins' first team.

My man. 😁 $2 million and Grinch stays and finishes what he started. I'm jumpin the gun here slightly, he's still got alot to prove. I do like what I'm seeing from Grinch so far and am optimistic he's really close to providing the dominant defenses that brought trophies home.
