1.) We were fortunate to not give up more points. Corn on the Cob was good but he missed several open receivers including the 2 point play. The conversion was there and he flat out missed it. It was not because of a good defensive play. I fear that Grier does not miss those types of throws.
2.) Our 3rd down defense is crazy bad. On a per play basis I would imagine we rank somewhere around 60th in the country but I bet on 3rd and 10+ we are not in the top 100. I did find that in 3rd down defense we are 83rd in the country and on 4th down we are tied for 109th.
3.) We can not get an interception or the ball to bounce for us on a turnover. Yes we did get a key turnover but I don't even remember the last interception we had. We are tied for 123rd in the nation in takeaways.
4.) I have said it before but with this offense if we can get stops on 60% of the drives or 3 out of 5 we will win. If we had achieved this against Oklahoma State it would have meant 2 less td's and a comfortable win.
And one more sobering statistic. OU is #80 in total defense just below Kansas. On the positive side, Kansas still has to play against OU's offense so that should help push them below OU.
