With Rattler likely taking over, OU will feature a QB without the running ability of his three predecessors (Mayfield, Murray, Hurts). While Rattler has decent mobility, more emphasis on the passing game and the increased use of the running backs will be in order. Mordecai should add meaningful depth and I don't see Riley letting him leave and leaving OU with one QB.
So I figure Sermon may return, Brooks may not...then there's Stevenson, Pledger (if he doesn't transfer), Major and the two elite freshman McClellan and McGowan, so the running game should be solid.
Calcaterra will return if he gets healthy and Stogner will emerge as another great OU TE, with Willis adding further depth. Jalin Conyers arrives, but with this depth he may redshirt or switch positions. I've read that Michael Henderson, listed as an "athlete" may be used as a TE, but his video shows him as a very good QB.
Lamb will be gone, but from a depth featuring Rambo, Wease, Hasselwood, Bridges, Jones and newcomers Mims, West and Graham, OU should be in good shape.
The o-line will be better and deeper with Wilkins and Walker emerging and five 4-star OL recruits coming in (Raym, Nelson, Harrison, Parks and Anderson).
Brkic has now solidified the kicking game (12 for 12 in FG attempts) with his holder Tanner Schaffer (very underrated) returns.
Mundshau has also done well punting with a 43 yard average.
What do you think ?

Sounds good CT, now get to work on OU defense ;). By the way, what did you think about Grinch getting in the players' faces a couple times? It was the first I had seen but I may have missed it in earlier games. I am not usually a big fan of it, but for some reason it felt right last night...especially with #44.

I viewed it as being very deserving and maybe a bit overdue.

Defensively, I'm much more concerned especially as it relates to recruiting because, right now, defensive recruits are only trickling in. I see OU painted into a corner getting top defensive recruits....mainly due to OU's recent reputation.
It's my hope that last night's game can go a long way in OU's attempt to become better on defense.

I don't know if Mayfield is a better runner. I was thinking Rattler was similar to Sanders at Okie State? He is only 6'1 so I would think he would be somewhat mobile although he is listed as a pro style qb.

Mayfield was not only a good runner, but a good blocker and receiver when called upon.

I think I would describe Mayfield as more of a good scrambler and not a runner. It was uncanny how hard it was to tackle the guy....although the NFL doesn't seem to have a problem with it lol

I'm still trying to see why Bookie was a 5 star.
The other night in the game I actually felt sorry for Bookie on one play where he had coverage on a Baylor receiver in the end zone, he defended the guy fairly decent. There was contact but not enough to be called by the ref. The Baylor receiver wasn’t happy about it and appeared to be making fun of Bookie’s height by putting his hand up to his chest and signaling to Bookie as he was talking smack to Bookie. Pretty funny at the time I thought.

You and I see Rattler differently. He's not big enough yet to run as much as Hurts, but few can. He's not as fast as Kyler, but fewer are. And Baker had his running moments. But Rattler is more than just decently mobile. He has terrific mobility, and likely runs under 4.6, which is really good for any quarterback.

He needs to hit the weight room pretty hard, but he'll be close to as good a runner as any of his three predecessors. And the kid has a gun. You can't really tell from his limited reps so far, but he appears to have IT, in the way Baker did. We haven't played a second year player at quarterback in a while. We're going to have to get used to seeing a little learning as he goes along. But he's likely to be a major stud, Sooner than later.

"Decent" mobility as I applied it to Rattler does NOT mean he isn't a running threat at all. It means he's no Murray or Hurts as far as running the ball....but capable of taking what the defense may give him if he has to run.
And Rattler's passing is dynamic.
I watch football too, Plaino.
