OU has two high draft RBs with experience coming in to 2016. We have renewed depth at OL, a QB who I vote the best OU QB ever, a D line busting with skills led by Charles Walker who hates everybody, maybe the best young LB squad in the nation, and a secondary that is deep, hungry, and hits people.
I am totally excited for this year.
Truer words have never been spoken fitty. Right on the money that there is no point in worrying about it. Whatever happens...happens, and it's out of our control.I'm not going to worry about Baker getting hurt either. If it happens we'll just press on like we have no choice...which we don't.
I like enthusiasm. But Baker is the best OU QB ever? I think you are probably comparing the gap from LJ/TK to Baker. But a better OU QB than Sam Bradford? My time dates back to the early '70's and I might be convinced to put Baker in the top 5 IF he has a good season this year. I'd have to think about it a while.
I understand, perfectly, what you are saying, Okla...I've always looked forward to what's around the next corner, and probably missed out on what is going on, TODAY!Senior, do you think us Sooner fans will ever worry about wishing our lives away? Sometimes I just want to wait til it gets here.

I've made the decision, Many Times, to be less invested in the Won/Loss Stats, but my personality won't let me do that. I can't go half-way. When I'm into anything, I'm ALL IN...More often than not, it's self-defeating. For so many years, I've been in the hunt for a NC, and in so doing, I've set myself up for disappointment. I'm the Original 'Maybe Next Year' Gal...As soon as we have a loss, or 3 or 2, I want to just blow on through the season and start over with a clean slate, striving, once more, for that Crown...
Or maybe The '47 Straight ruined me, and I'll never be happy 'til we are 12-0...Hey! Maybe 2016 is the year for that!
...and to YOU, Okla!I believe we're all like that in one way or another. It's the curse of being a Sooner. Damn, aren't we all fortunate to have tied our wagon (schooner) to Oklahoma University! Boomer Sooner, Senior.
Speaking of 'Entitled', we were!Yep, I've read that the 47 game streak, although spectacular and to this day unbeatable, spoiled 2, perhaps 3 generations of Sooner fans into the mindset that was the norm, and not the anomaly that it truly was.

Although Barry coined the 'Hang half a hundred on 'em', Back in the day, Bud, The Team, and The Fans felt that if we didn't win by at least 50, that we had lost...No Joke! Goal was to 'Skunk 'em'...which happened many Saturdays...and then, one day, it didn't...
47 straight (1953-57) did indeed spoil generations of Sooners fans, but it really should not have. OU's opponents during that streak had a combined winning percentage of 38%....with Notre Dame (2-8 in 1956) and Texas having its worst team since post-WWII (1-9 in 1956).Yep, I've read that the 47 game streak, although spectacular and to this day unbeatable, spoiled 2, perhaps 3 generations of Sooner fans into the mindset that was the norm, and not the anomaly that it truly was.
Good Point, CT...One thing making a major contribution in allowing OU to 'Create the Monster', was the lack of public emphasis on stats and records, back in that era. We have the Internet and TV to thank for making us so much better informed.
Today, Comparative Analyses are available on everything from Potty Paper to the Next Prez, and some of the characteristics of both of those are comparable...
Safe to say we may have very similar political beliefs.....who is there to vote for that has ANY level of statesmanship ?Good Point, CT...One thing making a major contribution in allowing OU to 'Create the Monster', was the lack of public emphasis on stats and records, back in that era. IMO, a lot of the Votes that will be cast are not going to be FOR the Candidate, but AGAINST, his/her Opponent...Safe to say we may have very similar political beliefs.....who is there to vote for that has ANY level of statesmanship ?
at least she won't look as bad in a pants suit as Kim-Jong ung.
