1. Slow start on O, some breakdowns on 3rd down early, but to respond with a 30 point win vs a decent team and only 3 point allowed is a positive outcome.
2. This staff is asking DWhite to do things he is not capable of doing vs elite comp. when he is in the box vs heavy sets he is fine as the Cheetah ...... but that was not what OU faced the majority of last night. when Kent St went 4 wide Bowman slid down to cover and Dwhite ended up as one of the deep Safety's (this should never happen imagine him trying to get deep to cover Worthy ) he also was left in Man vs a small quick RB on the outside a couple of times (including the 3rd down pick up where Harrington missed the sack and the qb made the good throw ) good/great teams will pick White apart if this is what continues.
3. I love multiple Defense and the dime should be good in theory (OU took off DU and Stutsman and brought on Harrington and Harmon leaving White as the Mike) but Stutsman is the best guy on D and should NEVER leave the field .... To the staffs credit they adjusted and stopped using this formation
4. Stutsman and Bowman are STARS they are the future of OU defense and it is just beginning
5. Coe was very good as the NT starter and Johnson started at the 3 tech this pair was great the issue is that they are also the 2 best NT and when the backups came in Kelley is a little undersized to play the 1 tech and OU gave up some stuff up the middle .... Redmond starting coming on and Kevin Gilliam is growing up quickly. But if OU is playing power running teams they need to make sure one of the big guys is at the 1 Tech.
6. Great to see Mims explode he is a threat and DG will continue to relay on him
7. DG was 20-24 for 289 after 3 q then Willis dropped the pass over the middle (was not his first drop ) and the starting skill guys were done for the day .. DG was 1 for his last 4 with that drop and then to the backups ...... DG was much much better then some on this board want to give him credit for he is not blocking and he is not the running back ....
8. Oline needs work period... the sunshine view is that Morris coming back this week will fix a ton and the line will be better ...... the other side is that more talented guys need to play especially at left guard. (I will say that some of the young guys already playing Sexton/Parks/Bryd/Taylor are going to be very very good)
9. Bowman had the 1 bad Kick return but I LOVE the aggressiveness in the return game OU will score on a kick or punt return this year
10. OU is 2-0 and also +3 in the Turnover column ..... and this team is going to get better and better. ..
