Breaking Point for BV?

After TN I had a feeling this could be bad, although I admittedly never thought it would be this. I didn’t think there was any outcome where BV could be fired after this season. Is there a breaking point?

Down 30 points at home against South Carolina…

This team isn’t winning another conference game. They are the worst team in the SEC.

What would it take? Losing to Maine? Not scoring more than 20 the rest of the way? Multiple shut-outs? No attendance for Alabama?

How does this thing get turned around in a year? The recruiting class is going to fall off a cliff. Current players will hit the portal more than we’ve ever seen (might not be a bad thing)…

Even if BV makes it out this year, in what world does he get this thing turned around? It will take an amazing OC hire and a massive NIL investment in the portal to get this roster turned around.

The future is really bleak here folks. Could be a long two years.

SoonerJurist-Donors Will Fix This

I posted this on another site. Thought I would share here.

Long-time subscriber and athletic donor for multiple programs including football.

1. Joe C is not going to fire BV. You don't add fuel to a crisis fire. BV has faults and has made mistakes, but he inherited a program in serious decline. A decline that will take five years to turn around. There was a reason Lincoln did not want to go to the SEC and why he jumped to USC. Defensive recruiting was in shambles. Lincoln hit on Caleb, but missed on backup QBs. And he then poached Caleb. He single-handily added three years to the rebuild with his actions.

2. Donors love BV's culture and the quality of recruits. He got lucky getting DG on campus or it would have been horrible.

3. Serious mistakes were made with NIL. When NIL landed, you had all these people around the program try to cash in on the program by launching a website and calling it a collective. There was a lot of politics and donors did not know where to donate. The messaging was scattered. As a result, OU missed on a golden opportunity to buy itself into a powerhouse while Texas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee were pouring money on their offensive and defensive lines.

4. There was also people in the program that was not sold on spending for NIL. When Caleb's handlers wanted more money, they said no. But now that is over.

5. NIL is now fixed and money will be raised to do a "Mississippi" on the offense.

6. Do not be shocked if we see more offensive transfers including quarterbacks.

“And it could be worse”

If you know you know.

Cut the head of the giraff off and let’s start with a clean staff. This is embarrassing. There’s no excuses anymore. You’re either going to be competitive or you’re not.

Idc about player performance. COACHES ANSWER FOR THAT. THEY GET PAID MILLIONS TO DO SO. BYE BV. BYE BB. BYE SL. BYE JJF. BYE DM.

Anyone who has an excuse left in the book can shove it. I’m done.

Redshirt Hawkins?

Just heard Cale Gundy say MH had poor footwork. Sounds like coaching !
Do we really want to put a 5 star on waivers after 4 games under less than ideal circumstances. Hawkins has great potential. But he is woefully inexperienced. Why not redshirt him and I hope we obtain a new offensive staff to include superb QB development. So give JA the long chance this year to see if he has it or not. This team isn’t going anywhere. If JA isn’t it then MH obtained some valuable experience and will be a freshman next year.
To build the program around JA and then jettison him after early poor play seems precipitous.

I do not predict this happens but it seems reasonable under the circumstances.

OU Athletic Department is like a country club

Nepotism , dead wood, overpaid old hacks , football is failing with the longest drought in national championships in OU history , basketball failing for 5 years now , no athletes in the Olympics , Gasso was hired before Joe C , gameday atmosphere needs work . Lazy internal hires of fired ex Sooners .
What does this AD that is good ? Joe C and his dead wood has to go .
Look at Alabama AD not skipping a beat inspire all the saban transition . LSU , Texas , Tennessee, and others excelling in football more sports .

No excuse for this OL

don’t care about injuries, 6 different combinations or talent

They are not even assignment sound. Letting guys run through untouched to go block air, they literally haven’t a clue who to block 7 games in.

Even if you have limited talent if you know where to go you are at least a speed bump to slow someone down.

I don’t understand how BB can’t even get them to know the blocking assignments.

Time to go young and play for next year, not a OL getting meaningful minutes that has any shot of being a starter next year.

The State of OU Football

I’ve been watching OU football since the early 60’s and I have never seen a less talented group of offensive lineman. Baker would have a hard time winning behind it. All on BB!
Our tight ends are also the worst I’ve seen on an OU team. All on JJ!!
Our running backs are the worst stable of RBs I’ve seen at OU. All on DM!!
Our starting WRs are injured, I get that, but I’m watching freshman WRs on teams that are playing great. Ours cannot get separation period!
Can’t fully blame EJ but he does bare some responsibility.
Our OC is clueless and should have never been offered the job period. One of the most storied teams in college football can’t go out and find the “best” OC and offer them a job.
And that brings me to BV who was offered the job without interviewing one other person, including Dan Lanning. There is a reason BV was never interviewed for an head coaching job while he was at Clemson. All on Bob and Joe C. “Comfort” hire!
So we as fans, get to suffer through this poor decision making for who knows how long.
I have only one complaint about defense, Billy B is still starting at safety!

Real Question

I have defended BB a ton, from his track record and the development of players we've seen in the past. But I think it's clear today, JA and MH can and will be good QBs, but they won't get that chance behind a line like ours. Someone explain this to me. Is our line awful because youth/inexperence/injuries... or is it the coaching. I know a decent amount about the game but I'm not savvy enough to know the X's and O's. I just don't understand how our line is this fvcking soft.

Where to watch OU-South Carolina, Saturday?

Every place I've looked, it says it on the SEC Network at 11:45 Saturday, I actually have two different listings on my new Spectrum TV stuff. But both on Saturday just list about four or five consecutive hours of of SEC Now during that time frame, in one hour segments. Nothing about OU-USC. Is it somewhere else? I have a class reunion from 11 ti 2:30 on Saturday and want to tape it. But I can't find it anywhere to tape.

complete offensive overhaul needed

i've had a few glasses of wine now, so i'm off the fire BV band wagon.
that's just too damaging.
we'd loose all our recruits and our defensive staff is strong.

get rid of all the offense coaches outside of wide reciever coach (i'm drunk so i can't think of his name)
go get a big time and flashy offensive OC somewhere and open the bank for him.

retain JA and MH, try to hold on to the 5start OL guy and give BV one more season.
