When They Reopen: Oklahoma Casino's, You Ready?

Bet their going to be swamped!!! One has to assume their gonna be in "FU" Mode with the machine being tight as hell. They gotta get that lost revenue back........;)

I play table games as well, and I have $60 Bucks in $5 dollar chips on my dresser and I keep catching myself stacking them in my palm when I pass by (Love the feel). Can't wait to put it all on black when I get the chance. One can only hope they have revamped a few of them before they reopen because mot of them smell like smoke factories.

Let's just pray their not going to turn into a Corona Petri Dish after those doors open.

XFL shutting down - no plans to return in 2021

XFL shut down this morning and has no current plans to resume next spring. Lot of factors at play but the possibility college football will play or stretch into spring likely a consideration.

If the XFL goes away it removes the paid alternative to CFB for players under the NFL age limit. There was speculation XFL alternative would influence the NCAA on NIL rights. States may push the envelope anyway but this is one element that is changing.

Fortunately Bob has plenty of money to fall back on.

When to give the green light to open back up?

It seems that there are several options:

1. Wait until a vaccine is found and deployed (seems unrealistic that the country can continue like this for another year or so).

2. When the rate of cases and deaths slow down drastically, open back up with the realization that there will still be new cases and deaths going forward, and shutting down any school/business etc. that have a new case or death is not going to be plausible, but instead just quarantine the individuals with new cases.

3. When the rate of cases and deaths slow down drastically, require testing of all employees currently working or who are going to go back to work. (don't know how realistic this one is, especially with the U.S. currently lacking in the required number of test kits.)

It seems that option 2 is the most realistic, but I don't know if the federal/state governments, as well as the administrators of the school's, and owner's of businesses have the guts to take on the kind of responsibility/blame that the media will lay at their feet for any subsequent deaths.

Anyone have any other possible outcomes?

Don’t count on a 2020 football season at OU (fresh info)

I just got off the phone with a senior administrator at OU and was told the Provost just told senior staff that they are expecting to keep the University closed (meaning no in-person classes) into 2021, primarily due to financial concerns and the likely 20% staff reduction they are about to make. They’ve already told departments that they cannot hire grad students as GTAs this coming year, and grad students teach a huge portion of classes at OU.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

OT: Former Senator Tom Coburn Passed Away

Tom Coburn, former Republican senator and Oklahoma physician, has died

MARCH 28, 2020 / 12:00 PM / CBS/AP

Former Senator Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma family doctor who earned a reputation as a conservative political maverick as he railed against federal earmarks and subsidies for the rich, has died. He was 72.

Coburn, who also delivered more than 4,000 babies while an obstetrician in Muskogee, where he treated patients for free while in the Senate, early Saturday morning, his cousin Bob Coburn told The Associated Press. Tom Coburn had been diagnosed years earlier with prostate cancer.

If communities and states keep getting shut down and not allowing people to work, without the government providing direct financial aid, some serious civil unrest will possibly arise.

If people don’t have money to buy basic items, all hell will break loose.

OU spring game canceled (Update: Err, postponed)

OU official release:

University of Oklahoma Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced Wednesday that, due to the suspension of athletics activities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding when those activities will resume, OU's 2020 spring football game will not occur on April 18 as originally scheduled.

"We've been receiving a lot of questions about whether the spring game will be held on April 18, or even at all," said Castiglione. "The fact of the matter is it would be virtually impossible to hold the game on the originally scheduled date since we're not sure when or if we'll be able to return to practice. So in talking with Coach (Lincoln) Riley, we feel at the very least it's appropriate to announce that the game and associated activities will not occur on April 18.

"Given all of the unknowns we're facing, it's impossible to determine right now when or if the game will be rescheduled. We will continue to communicate updates as information becomes available."

Unique Sooner Memorabilia Collection

I have a friend who’s a diehard Sooners fan and alum, with a daughter in school at OU now, whose husband passed away after a short illness a couple of months ago. He was an alum and season ticket holder for football for the past 30 years, and he amassed just an incredible, large, basement-filling collection of Sooners memorabilia - autographed pictures, jerseys, mini-figurines, programs, helmets, you name it - including some stuff dating back to the 1920s.

His widow is downsizing her home, now that he’s gone and both daughters are in college, and needs to sell the majority of the collection to in part help pay for the move ... I have a client who’s an auctioneer in our (SW Mo) area whose agreed to handle getting it online piece by piece for bidding in the coming weeks.

I know this isn’t EBay or Craig’s List, but her husband’s greatest wish, I’m sure, was that these keepsake, unique items wound up in the hands of diehard Sooner fans like him for the next few decades.

My question ... the best place I know to reach these kinds of folks is right here on this board. Is posting that link when available allowed, or will I be exiled to Chile?

if it goes against board practices and bylaws, then I guess when the time comes, I could just have board members send me a DM and I could send them the link? Looking to follow proper protocol here to get the long list of items available for bid when the time comes out to the largest pocket of true OU fans and make sure my friend’s wishes are met.

Any suggestions /advice is welcome ... thanks!
