Friday Notes...

Guys, first off, it's been a fairly quiet week in recruiting, I think everyone is in a bit of a holding pattern and as such there won't be a Scoop this week.

However, I thought it was a good time to take inventory on 2021 recruiting.

Offensive Targets:

Status: Oklahoma is a contender but there's a question of numbers at running back and for now the Sooners and he seem to be giving each other a long look but neither has the other's full focus.

OU's Standing: I think the Sooners can contend if they want to but for now sit behind Georgia and Michigan.

Prediction: Georgia

Status: Oklahoma has played host to Wheaton more than anyone else and his recent top three included two schools he has rarely seen. Now the question is could he decide in the next few weeks? There are some who believe so.

OU's Standing: Oklahoma leads but is anyone really going to count out LSU or Alabama?

Prediction: OU

Status: Oklahoma has made a staggeringly good run at Egbuka and some think the Sooners could land him even without a visit this season. I'll be honest, I think that's hopeful but it's not impossible.

OU's Standing: I think they sit second behind the Buckeyes but have close an amazing amount of ground in the summer.

Prediction: Ohio State

Status: Oklahoma will know their fate soon and the Sooners should have good news coming.

OU's Standing: Oklahoma seems to be way out in front prior to his announcement on Sept. 27.

Status: Byrd has felt incredibly close to a decision for a few weeks now, one wonders whether he is receding from that option or that things are imminent. We'll be checking around but the Sooners seem to be in great shape.

OU's Standing: In spite of last weekend's visit to LSU most still feel Oklahoma is out in front of the big-time talent from Dallas.

Status: Oklahoma's move for Foster hasn't gotten it's due nationally but they do feel like the leader but both Texas A&M and Oregon are very legitimate contenders here.

OU's Standing: Oklahoma leads but with him not deciding until Dec. 18 we'll keep an eye on Texas A&M who feels like the biggest threat considering his family ties.

Prediction: OU

Status: Following the Sooner Summit Leigh felt like he might be leaning to Oklahoma. He has put that to bed with back to back trips to Baton Rouge.

OU's Standing: The Sooners are almost certainly second but a decision any time soon feels like a bad omen.

Prediction: LSU

Defensive Targets:

Status: One of two players I'm fully confident will have a spot in Oklahoma's defensive class come hell or high water. Still though until he can get to campus it's hard to see it coming together.

OU's Standing: The Sooners haven't had a chance to host him but if they can get him on campus there is a growing feeling they could shock some people.

Prediction: Ohio State

Status: Wallace was a guy that Oklahoma found after his commitment to Boston College and he's built a good relationship with Brian Odom but convincing his family that Oklahoma is the best spot for him will be key as she has a real trust with the BC staff.

OU's Standing: It feels like a race Oklahoma can win but the numbers on defense are getting very, very tight.

Prediction: Boston College

Status: Oklahoma was a little late to the game with Williams early on but have since made up some ground even with his commitment to Arizona State.

OU's Standing: The issue may be whether Oklahoma has room to take him but there's not much doubt for me that he is a guy they'd really like to have if they can make the numbers work.

Prediction: Arizona State

Status: Oklahoma has run an outstanding race here and the fact they are even there is a credit to Jamar Cain however it's just tough to envision a world where he gets out of the SEC.

OU's Standing: I see Oklahoma running fourth here and the Sooners not being able to host him only makes it tougher to make a move.

Prediction: Auburn

Status: The Crimson Tide and Sooners are doing battle here even after his recently announced top group but the feeling is that the Tide may run out of spots leaving one of Oklahoma's most coveted defensive backs to fall in their lap.

OU's Standing: This feels like a two horse race between Oklahoma and Alabama at the moment.

Prediction: OU

Soonersports roku app

Fellas,

I downloaded the sooner sports app on the tv, thinking I could purchase the game that way and watch it.

When you read the details on the purchasing piece it says on soonersports it says the PPV can’t be played because of the roku purchasing requirement. But yet, the app has sooner game day and it’s locked. I don’t want to purchase it is and for some reason won’t play at kickoff. Any one see what I’m reading or am I just reading it wrong?

Sunday Notes...

OK guys, got two things to cover, one I think you'll like, the other...not as much.

I spoke, briefly, with Spearman, Texas 2022 Rivals100 athlete Brenen Thompson about his tweet earlier today and the chances it could mean something is happening. In case you missed the tweet...

He told me "After season (eyeballs)".

So I'm guessing nothing happening is immediate but the buzz is definitely on Oklahoma's side of things.

**On the flip side, I've been told that Tristan Leigh is expected to return to LSU again next weekend. Back to back trips to Baton Rouge seems like a daunting reality and as his fourth and fifth trips to LSU and only being able to make one to Oklahoma, seems like the odds are getting longer.
