Long time member and season ticket holder has passed away

Don’t know how much everyone has interacted with him but @soonerdoc1965 has passed away. He was my father and the first person that took me to an OU game in the 90’s we haven’t missed a home game since. He graduated from OU medical school and attended residency there. Sending all his kids there. Was a great father and die hard OU fan since his youth. Loved his family. He also loved interacting on the board.

OT:Kyler/Baker

This has been the hardest year of OU football for me.. The current team is struggling but also two of our legends have probably had a worse year. It seems like there is no winning with national media once they stick a label on you there’s no escaping the narrative. Baker has been doubted and under the microscope since he entered the league and now Kyler is right there with him. My two hopes for the NFL new year is that Sean Payton goes to Arizona and gets ahold of Kyler and Baker can find his way to Indy in the off season to get one more legit shot to save his career.

What is your best guess concerning any possible coaching changes?

WOKElahoma - November 30, 2022

*OK so one of the more interesting storylines that has emerged as the coaching carousel turns and that is the talk around Texas A&M defensive line coach Elijah Robinson.

For those who haven't been following along one of the country's most successful defensive line recruiters in the last three cycles is giving some strange indications of an interest in coaching at Nebraska. He's made some follows, some likes, etc. that seem to have no connection to College Station.

Could he really be looking around?

Well, no one is quite sure but one thing that is abundantly clear is that much like Brent Venables's pursuit of Todd Bates last year Matt Rhule is going to make Robinson one of his absolute focuses.

"He's going to throw the kitchen sink at (Robinson)," a source said.

Now, it might seem foolish to leave the Aggies, and all of his acquired talent, for a program that has been on the slide for a while but Robinson and Rhule go back and the new head man in Lincoln's success is hard to deny.

If Robinson leaves there's reason to believe it could further open the door with five-star defensive tackle David Hicks as well as present the current A&M defensive line roster - an absolutely loaded group - with some decisions to make.

Let's see where it goes but if Robinson heads to Lincoln there are a lot of interesting connections to Oklahoma.

**Further talk of the portal? I've had multiple conversations and there is no doubt that Arkansas portal entry Myles Slusher is all about another chance to play at Oklahoma, he comes from a family of Sooner fans and whatever bad blood existed with the last staff's lack of recruiting attention it seems that the current group may see a chance to see a highly-experienced defender join the roster.

Now whether that's an angle that Oklahoma is going to be full go on? I'm not quite sure yet. I think he's a player the Sooners have some interest in and absolutely could be part of the 2023 roster but I think there are questions of who will leave Oklahoma's roster before that can be fully answered.

But again, should the Sooners want to fully pursue him, expect Slusher in Norman.

***Alright guys, it's that time of year to take stock of Oklahoma's commitments and what is to come for them both in All-American Games as well as early enrollment.

Young Dudes on our Roster

Not suggesting our coaching staff didn’t coach to win all season, but I’m wondering if some young guys were kinda held back to build for the future?? Some evidence by group…

1. True Freshmen who played, flashed in limited action, looked better than the upperclass incumbent rotation guys, but weren’t fully thrown into the fire. Examples: RSJ, Kanak, Lewis, G.Williams, Thomas, Sexton, Taylor, Halton, Gibson. RSJ is a prime example here…all safeties last night appeared to be struggling (even Bowman)…maybe RSJ is injured, but thought he should have played a sh!t ton more than he did…not just last night, but all season!

2. True Freshmen who didn’t really ever play, some of whom we’ve heard have impressed and look like future players in practices! Examples: Rowe, Evers, McKinzie, Burt, Helms, Sawchuck, Anderson. Shocked some of these guys redshirted when it seems they could have helped. Rowe, Burt, & McKinzie are all guys playing positions that needed major help. In previous years, these guys would have been given a little run just to see…maybe they’re truly not ready??

3. Other young players who have played in the past but didn’t really this season. Examples: Mukes, Dennis, Parks, Roberson, Eaton. Might all be guys who are getting processed…or maybe coaches held them out to get stronger and contribute down the road when they think we will be good/contenders?

That’s alot of young talent that didn’t get a ton of reps when we were in the midst of a down year and really struggling at several positions, and where an infusion of young talent might have helped. Maybe they truly weren’t ready, but I feel like BV and staff erred on the side of caution to build for the future. Why burn a year for a player that can be a contributor when we are good a couple years down the road. Conspiracy theory I guess, but if you realize this team isn’t going to be in the playoff hunt, play upperclassmen who clearly aren’t getting the job done (for example 2, 25), and save your powder. Time will tell, but I can’t otherwise reconcile some of the personnel decisions we saw this season.
