I’ve been wanting to say this for a long time but obviously didn’t want to say it about a committed recruit.
There is a coaching rule of thumb that can be paraphrased as ‘recruiting coach’s kids can be tricky because those kids are typically coached up much more than other players and in the end closer to their ceiling than other players’. Vasek is the most technically advanced high school DE I have ever seen. He destroys his unwitting competition with high-level technical moves (spin, swim, dip&rip, etc) they are not used to seeing. Being that he is already so well coached in these techniques he is already much closer to his ceiling than the typical DE coming into college. He may very well go on to be a Hall of Famer but I can guarantee you that he is way closer already to what he will ever be than PJ or any other high school DE. He may not have that big of a jump in college where everyone is as coached up as he is. Still wish we had him. We’ll see.
