Yeah, that takes in a lot. I was just wondering what each of you participate now days and days gone by. I'll start and I hope it's not all golf...........LOL.

Now days....
I like puzzles. Yep, hard ones. It challenges my brain. I'm unable to do anything physical, so why not.

Middle years...
Fishing, hunting and camping.
I used to be pretty good at Darts, Pool and shuffle board. I have no interest in them today.

Younger years.....
I loved playing pick up basketball at the local park against current high school players on Saturdays. This was in the 80's. They called me pop's even though I was in my thirties. Great exercise and fun.

Played on a flag football team about the same time. I didn't make it long before I injured an ankle. The same problem I have today and in my high school sports years. Bad Legs.

I love to swim and that's what brought up my thought's on this post. It's going to be very hot today in Tulsa area and I want to get into some water. I have owned a few pools in my lifetime, but I always preferred a lake. I might just take off today and hit Grand Lake and swim my heart out.

In my youth, I liked fishing, boating and riding my bike all over green country to visit friends.

Today, I don't really get to do much like that, but I do have 15 acres of land up in OK near Weleetka with a small cabin on it that I like to get away to when I can. I also bowl on a league to break the monotony (since I work from home and seldom get out to mingle with folks). I also own a really nice club level Karaoke setup so once a month or so I'll host a party where we all get a bit crazy and sing.

Of course, the guitar, music stuff is forever, however back in the day I was an ace horseshoe tosser.
I was good.
If it was an Olympic event I'd have made the traveling team.

This summer I've gotten back into shooting archery. I shot a ton of competitive archery when I was younger then got out of it while I was in the military. But tried to get back into competition some years ago till my shoulder started really giving me issues. Put it down and always missed it till some guys at work not long ago were talking about shooting archery tournaments around here. Figured I would give it one more shot and just start real slow and maybe ease my shoulder back into it. So far so good and I have been spending a ton of time shooting this summer. Heck that's why I haven't been around here much. Usually when I'm on the computer or internet it's to check something archery related.

I like Civil War history and go to Gettysburg annually....then there's chess....long walks with my Beagle Casey (named after Casey Stengel)...following OU football, Yankees baseball, UConn women's basketball....attending performances at the Goodspeed Opera House....traveling to Bar Hartbor Maine......hanging out with my wife....talking sports and politics. Yeah, I'm a real exciting guy.

Priorities in my senior years are God and Family. Love to go on short term missions (recently have been to Kenya, Ecuador, and Honduras) and love the the vacations with the wife and grandkids.

Secondly, I'm an avid fisherman (fresh water love to crappie and walleye fish and do a great deal of redfish and speckled trout fishing with my son in the salt water marshes of Louisiana) and love to archery elk hunt (p.s. the elk are not in a great deal of danger although in 15 years I've harvested 4; just enjoy being in the mountains and around Christian men I've worked with over the years). Also, still do a little upland game bird hunting. Now have a one year old female brittany that my wife has spoiled pretty good. She will be introduced to wild quail hunting in November.

I know me and you have talked about this before, but I would love to one day get up to visit Gettysburg to see where that battle took place. Always been fascinated with wanting to see firsthand the terrain and such that played such a huge role in turning the tide of the war and U.S. history. I would think it would have a spooky feeling being in an area where 10's of thousands died in the course of just a few days.

The landscape itself has been altered over the past 25 years to regain its appearance 150 years ago, based on photos taken in 1863 and in the 1880's. There are many places to go....and a few places to avoid. I do not believe in ghosts, but I do feel a "presence" every time I walk the battlefield.....especially on nights when there's a full moon.
After dinner (or sometimes before dinner), usually around 6-7 pm, I go to Little Round Top and watch the sun set. It's part of my routine there.....then I return the Gettysburg Hotel, catch a night cap at the tavern in the lobby and go to my room. After 20 visits since 1990, and 4 visits between 1960-1973, I'm still drawn to Gettysburg more than ever.
