Catoosa OK
Since the introduction of Indian Casinos across the nation it sure seems to be a lucrative business. The Hard Rock here in Catoosa always has a packed parking lot. I just wondered, do you game or not? Poll

Yep, just got back from River Spirit a couple of hours ago.

They give me a 100 bucks a week free play. Don't use it, you lose it.
Tonight wasn't outstanding, but I walked out with 220 more than I went in with, and that on house money.
Me happy boy...:)

Well vote in the poll..............I really think it would be interesting to see how many do casino gamble. I should have included sports betting. I gamble somewhat on college football lines, but never a huge amount.

BTW, how do you get one hundred dollar free play?

Well, you win around 11,000 bucks in calendar year 2014, you get the royal treatment.
Valet parking, four free buffets at Visions per month.
Stands to reason. The Creeks want their money back. Can't say I blame them.

You do have to exercise some discipline...never risk the milk money and let the chillins starve.

Okay, got it. I have some friends that get free rooms, tickets to concerts and free food at the Hard Rock.

Funny story or not. My ex and I went to Vegas in our early twenties. She played a penny machine and that's when you had to actually insert the coins. Well, she lost 20 bucks and demanded to see the manager because she was ripped off. LOL

A few years ago she lost 350,000 dollars to the Creeks. She stole from her current husband, fake credit cards and even took 100,000 out of our daughters account, which she was on.

She got out of prosecution by going to rehab and having a rich husband. Damn glad I got rid of her.

Sad story, but true...........

Funny K2C, you reminded me...I've got a free room in July and August at Hardrock, plus a free buffet both months...all that by virtue of jack potting one machine last June for 3 grand.

These people are cunningly relentless in recouping losses.
You got to watch it though.
Stay sober, and don't make stupid decisions.
Please believe what I'm telling you!

My wife and I took our first trip to Las Vegas in 1980 and continued to go at least once a year until 2013. I played Black Jack and she played slots with a little low stakes Black Jack mixed in. Over the years I tried about all the different gaming tables with up and down success. Then about 2003 I quit all the table games and bet only college and NFL games. We would arrive Thursday and leave Monday, which gave me plenty of action. I would sit and bet games from 9 am - 6 pm on Saturday and all day Sundays. Friday's were for sitting around the pool drinking and laying in the sun with group of friends we travelled with. My wife would play slots into the night and I would go to bed around 8:30. LOL Then in 2013, I just got to the point that I didn't want to do it anymore, so now I don't gamble, but my wife still likes to visit the local casinos with friends. However, I have promised my wife to take her to Winstar later this year so I can add another golf course to my bucket list and she can go lose a little money on the slots. The best I have ever done on all these trips is win about $2400 once, but more often than not, I've lost.....never more than a $1000, but I am way behind on the table games, but up in the sports book. I'm sure I am down overall because I bet so many years on the tables. I don't even want to guess how much my wife is down. LOL

Voted 'no'. I've been to an Oklahoma casino once. In 2009, I saw Roger Daltrey at the Winstar. Walked right past the slots. I have no interest in gambling of any kind. Looks like a place some people go when all you have left in life is an oxygen tank to keep you alive. Saw several oxygen tanks.

I'm surprised by the votes. I figured nearly everybody gambled a little. Small sample, but the poll shows 60% No and 20% Rarely.
I actually voted "All the time", which isn't true. But there wasn't a category for 3-4 times per year.
One of our favorite things to do is people watch in Vegas. We try to go once a year.

My wife is a VIP at Riverspirit and we go at least once a week. I don't even use a players card because I'm convinced it's a conspiracy. One thing I have learned as an absolute fact..... I can spend thousands and not hit shit, but the poor drunk bastard sitting down right next to me will stick $10 in a machine and hit 20k. Yes, we still go for the "abuse" , but I believe the Indians should name a wing of their hotel after me.

I will share one episode that was memorable...

I went to Hardrock one night last year, got on a five buck machine, got some lucky spins and cashed out around 1300. Took a couple of hours.

Feeling full of myself, went River Spirit the next night and I couldn't make anything good happen.
Even though it was 'found' money, found myself 900 down.
Well, this can't happen!
I got on a two dollar machine and, taking three hours, recouped the 900 plus another 100.

Needless to say I got the hell out.
I remember walking to the truck feeling like I'd been beaten with baseball bats.
That was rough.

Playing at a facility that is in the process of building a multi-million dollar hotel isn't smart gameplay. Color me pretty dam stupid. LOL

Winstar actually has some really good concerts that come through! And no, I'm not saying that because of my name. lol!

I gamble a bit about once a month to blow off steam. I don't usually take more than $70 to play with and I NEVER hit the ATM. The craziest thing I consistently see is someone wins a few hundred or $1000 + and stays on the same machine until it's gone. If I hit over $100, I'm out!

That was pretty much my experience as well. The wifey and I were driving to Norman/Tulsa to see family. The wifey wanted to eat and have a cocktail and we saw the casino in Sallisaw and decided to give it a shot. Walked past a few guys wearing t-shirts with the sleeves cut off (sadly, one was an OU t-shirt), numerous people on oxygen tanks and almost everyone in the place was smoking a cigarette.

We had a "dinner" that was only a notch above food you'd find at a baseball stadium and the guy couldn't make a margarita, so she settled for wine, which was served in a plastic cup. We spent about an hour and about $40 on the slots and decided to get the hell out of there before we lost anymore money or got cancer from second-hand smoke. Haven't been back to a casino since and I feel like I'm not missing a thing.

The way I fell about gambling is, I might as well just let somebody kick me in the balls, it will only hurt for a little while and I'll still have my money.

In my defense, I don't 'casino' anymore.

They took away the only incentive I had, free play money and free food.
Come on, do they really think I'm gonna risk my own cabbage?
Not bloody likely!

I know there are exceptions, but gambling for the most part is just another way to take advantage of people that don't have the money to waste. I know of a lot of poor people that get their check on the 3rd and go to the casino that same day.

Occasionally I'll gamble as work events will take me to dinner at one of the two local casinos restaurants.

I do play Draftkings and Fanduel weekly during the NFL season.

I go about twice a month and play $100 (5x$20) each time. I play 3 reel $1 machines. I have a system that works and walk out a winner about 80% of the time. The key to being a winner is knowing when to walk out and having the will power to do it. Once you beat the Casino whether you are up $50 or $600 is cashing out and hitting the door. Many times i have walked out after only 10 minutes because I had a nice win on the first twenty.

See, you've got it figured out.
I too have gone into a casino with a plan of being there for a couple of hours. Drinking the free coffee, messing around.
I got on a five dollar Bourbon Street machine, put in a 100 dollar bill.
About the fifth or sixth spin it hit 3- 7's...cashed out with 700+ bucks and went to Sante Fe and had a huge filet mignon.

You're right, the hard part is leaving after a big win thinking (usually erroneously) you're going to double it.
It hardly ever happens.
